As the final aspect of the symposium, participants will honor those (and their descendants) who experienced the traumatic events of the 1921 Race Massacre. The ceremony will provide tribute to the lives lost, the survivors, and descendants of the race massacre. The event will also acknowledge those within the community who stepped up as allies to attacked community and its survivors and descendants. Additionally, acknowledgments to the legacy of Board Chair, Julius Pegues will be provided.
